Rhino Walking Safaris - Directions

ACCESS BY ROAD

Rhino Post Safari Lodge can be reached by normal 2 x 4 vehicles. The lodge will then transfer guests from Rhino Post to Plains Camp by open 4 x 4 game drive vehicles. This takes approximately 1/2hr. If staying at Plains Camp, guests must ensure that they arrive at Rhino Post Safari Lodge by 14:00 latest in order to transfer over in time for the afternoon activity. (See Late Arrivals below). Travelling time by vehicle from Johannesburg to Rhino Post Safari Lodge is approximately six hours (500km).

The nearest domestic airport is KMIA (Kruger Mpumalanga Airport) and the scheduled flights are: SA Express, SA Airlink & Nationwide Airlines who have daily flights from OR Tambo International Airport (ORT) to KMIA. Direct flights are available from Durban and Cape Town. Approximate flying time from ORT to KMIA is 55 minutes. If utilising the scheduled flights, you would need to make use of one of the following:

Chauffeured land transfers: KMIA to Rhino Post Safari Lodge (we can arrange this)
Car Hire: KMIA has 7 car hire companies, enabling you to self-drive directly to Rhino Post

Nearest Airstrip -Skukuza

Charters to Skukuza: Federal Air & Bateleur offer daily, direct charter flights from OR Tambo to Skukuza Airport. Charter flight bookings should be made through Rhino Walking Safaris reservations office. Arrival times are approximate.

Baggage is restricted to 20kg per person in a soft bag. Transfers between Skukuza Airport and Rhino Post Safari Lodge are complimentary and take approximately half an hour.

Private Charters are permitted to land at Skukuza which is approximately a half hour road transfer in open 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles, through the Kruger National Park to the lodge (no charge). Co-ordinates: S24º 58.0’ E031º 36.0’ Length: 1.55km tarred runway. Airport hours are between 09h00 & 15h00 only.

In addition to the above, Isibindi Africa Lodges are able to organise inter lodge road or air transfers between our properties.

LATE ARRIVALS

Rhino Post Safari Lodge - after Gate Closing (Self Drive Only): The Kruger National Park has several entrance gates, although Rhino Walking Safaris guests are advised to enter through Paul Kruger Gate, as it is the closest to the lodge. Guests must enter the Kruger Gate 45 minutes before closing time to allow sufficient time to drive to Rhino Post Safari Lodge.
Plains Camp guests are required to be at Rhino Post no later than 14h00 as the inter lodge transfer departs Rhino @ 14h00 to Plains Camp. Please note that because of the remoteness of the area and so as not to disrupt other guests, guests arriving after 14h00 will be transferred through to Plains Camp as soon as a vehicle becomes available. We cannot guarantee that this will be in time for the afternoon activity.
Please Note: If guests are not in time at the respective gates, the SANParks personnel will not allow them to enter the park and they will have to find alternative accommodation for that night.

Paul Kruger Gate to RWS – 1 hour
Malelane Gate to RWS - 2 ½ hours
Crocodile Bridge Gate to RWS - 2 ½ hours
NB - speed limit in the Kruger is 50km
