Bonginkosi Zikhali B&W

Bonginkosi Zikhali, known as Bonga, a proud resident of the Mabibi community and a passionate advocate for marine conservation.

He began his education at Mabibi Primary School before completing his matric at Mlingo High School, where he received several awards recognising his proficiency in English. To broaden his experience, Bonga moved to Durban, where he worked for several leading companies, including Nestlé, Simba, and Digistics Logistics. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned to his roots and joined Thanda Private Game Reserve, where he developed valuable hospitality experience in bartending and the dining room.

Eager to pursue a career in conservation and ecotourism, Bonga completed a 3E Certificate through Work For A Living in Ballito. This qualification opened the door to an opportunity at Thonga Beach Lodge, where he joined the team as a Marine Guide. Today, Bonga is a valued member of the Isibindi Foundation Trust, serving as a Marine Monitor. His work plays a vital role in protecting the unique marine environment while strengthening the relationship between conservation, tourism, and the local community.
