Ayanda grew up between Richards Bay and Empangeni before moving to Durban in high school, where she attended Durban Girls’ High School and matriculated. From an early age, she was happiest outdoors, swimming in rivers, hiking around the family farm, and exploring KwaZulu-Natal’s hidden gems during school holidays. In high school, she even took up rock climbing, a reflection of her adventurous spirit and love for nature.
She went on to complete a three-year Hospitality Diploma at the International Hotel School, combining her passion for people with her natural appreciation for the outdoors.
After graduating, Ayanda secured her first role at a lodge just outside Hluhluwe, where daily sightings of nyalas, impalas, and red duiker deepened her connection to the bush. The experience cemented her love for lodge life and the quiet magic found in these sacred wild spaces. Places where nature sets the rhythm and every day brings something extraordinary.
